How to plan for your boutique appointment
In this climate at the moment most bridals shops are now by appointment. Research online about the boutique, or ask around if anyone has used them before. Make sure they stock your favourite designers or style of dress that you have been inspired by online or in magazines. Don’t make a wasted trip or waist an appointment of they are not the right boutique for you. Ask about their payment terms, and if they can alter your dress for the day too before you buy.
Take the right people with you
Choosing the right people to go shopping for your gown is a make or break situation. They need to be supportive, patient and to know you aspirations for your style and day. You don’t need someone that is opinionated, and those who know your personality. Ultimately the consultant should recommend styles that fit your shape, height, and friend and family to give valid views. Do not be pushed into buying if the dress doesn’t fit your ideal.
Remember to take accessories with you to make sure everything fits together. Shoes are important if the dress needs taking up.
Make sure you dress the part taking into consideration you will be getting undressed several times. Nude or strapless bra is the best option.
Remember, brides go in with a vision and sometimes come out with totally different ideas. Be warned.
A-line – It’s a classic for a reason – This style compliments and flatters anyone’s body
Ballgown – This is the typical princess gown that is the best match for pear shaped, hour glass and bigger busted bodies. This gown can make apple shaped bodies look wider and petite bodies can look swamped and drown. Taller brides can pull this off if the skirt is long enough.
Fit and flare -Known as the trumpet fit. It is a flattering cut for most bodies but it is unforgiving around the stomach.
Mermaid – This can be a very flattering cut for curvaceous and top heavy bodies. It also flatters a petite frame. Pear shapes bodies can look bottom heavy in this style dress.
Column – This dress style is very bohemian, falls away from the body. Best dress for apple shape bodies. Flowing style works best on petite brides too.
